rubydanroses Liquid Lipsticks Swatches + Mini Review

G R E E T I N G S  L O V E L Y  R E A D E R S x

I've recently purchased some liquid lippies again (and yes I'm guilty of this) because only God knows how much I've spent on matte lip creams especially in the last few months. This is actually the second time I've purchased lipsticks from local brands. I don't really purchase that much from local brands because I'm bit stereotypical on the qualities of products. Don't get me wrong, I tried a few local cosmetics before and let's just say they did not leave a good impression on me. However, during the last couple of months, I see a lot of new local names on instagram, especially on the rave of matte liquid lippies. So I decided to give 'em a go on a recently-debuted local brand, rubydanroses.

On their first release, they put out nine shades in total --and I managed to grab 3 shades: sweet disposition, new deep & bachelorette. They retail about RM40 each, and free delivery with purchase of RM100 & above.

Overall, I think these liquid lippies are honestly great. They have a good staying power and they stay comfortably on your lips after long hours of wearing. However, I do recommend exfoliating your lips and putting on a lip balm beforehand using these lipsticks. These lipsticks definitely do not look or feel nice on dry cracked lips as they have a matte finish. Besides that, I think they are definitely comparable to the colourpop ultra matte lipsticks. However, this is a bit more expensive than the colourpop ones, but keep in mind that supporting local brands is a doing a good cause to the economy and plus, appreciating the amazing Malaysian behind these products!

On a side note, I've noticed after eating oily/greasy food (oh malaysian food are blessed with this hehe), the lipstick turned flaky especially on the inner part of your lips. However, to overcome this, I wiped off the flaky bits, reapplied and your lips will be great again!

I've also uploaded a more in-depth swatches/first impression video on youtube, so go and check it out!

I've also managed to spot a few cheaper dupes/ alternatives to the rubydanroses lippies!

SILKYGIRL MATTE JUNKIE IN RETRO - SWEET DISPOSITION
+ Retro costs around RM20+ while Sweet Disposition costs RM40.
+ Sweet disposition is more vibrant & has better pigmentation.
+ Sweet disposition is more of a red-orange shade while Retro is closer to a brown-orange shade.

WET & WILD MEGALAST LIP COLOR- CHERRY BOMB - BACHELORETTE
Cherry Bomb retails around RM12.50 (Boots) while BACHELORETTE retails around RM40.
+ The shades are almost identical and both dry matte on the lips.

- I haven't found any dupes for NEW DEEP yet! Will update if I manage to come across one.

MY EXO EXPERIENCE: EXOluXion #2 in Malaysia

12.03.2016
the night where i felt the strength and unity in a fandom; where exo-ls unite to watch the long-awaited performances by our favorite band, EXO.

Hi, if you're a fangirl, you won't think I'm exaggerating. But if you have never been in a fandom, you might not understand; the feels; the commotion; and whatever has been flooding your twitter timeline these past few days. (I totally get it. I don't understand football fanatics because I've never been one). But if you were there during the night, you'll understand perfectly what i meant.

I thought post-concert depression (pcd) wasn't really a thing. But after experiencing it first hand, I proved myself wrong. After everything has ended, it left me feeling empty; lifeless; as if something big has been removed from my heart. My my, who would thought such people (that you've never met them before) would have such power to do such thing (unconsciously).

So, the reason I wanted to make a blog post about this is because firstly I hope it would help me with my pcd, and secondly, I wanted to pour out all of the thoughts I had during the show.

I've been a fan of them ever since MAMA 2012, and I've been supporting them until now. For me, that's a huge commitment since I don't really stick to fandoms that long. So you can say, EXO made me stay and the concert night has proven why.

It was one of the best experiences of my life. It was my first concert, so it was extra special. When EXO finally came out, I had to take a moment and asked myself," Is this real?" The band that I've been watching for the past couple of years only from my tv screen, was finally performing in front of my own eyes. It was unbelievable.

I enjoyed the whole performance. I was singing, dancing, jumping and gave my all. And i can clearly see that the boys also gave their all. They gave great performances no matter how tired they are.

Being a Kai-biased, for me, he was the highlight of the show. I bought the Rock O tickets because I knew he was going to be around ROCK O for most of the time compared to ROCK E/X. Oh man, he was really charismatic on stage. His gaze is really strong; the type where it'll pierce right through your soul. And do I have to even mention his dancing? His solo part for Baby Don't Cry was amazing. Good job, Jongin!
Chanyeol came close to ROCK O a couple of few times to interact with the fans. He's so tall, handsome as hell (yes I'm quoting Taytay). He made the most interactions compared to the other members (I think it's because he's naturally friendly so it showed when he was on stage).

Another memorable moment was when during the short break (before SING FOR YOU), all the lights were dim and the stage was dark. All the fans in the stadium sang the chorus part for SING FOR YOU (it was a fan project ). At that very moment, it was my proudest moments as an exo-l. I was amazed on how music can bring people together and unite. Everyone sang until EXO came out and started singing. Suho said he was very surprised that the fans in the venue sang along to all of their songs (not only the chorus). Well, glad to say I was one of them (yes im that type of fan).

Sehun asked what was written on the banners that we hold during SING FOR YOU. He said that the quote was something he said before, and he mentioned that we weren't updated HAHA. Sehun is that sassy friend that you'll have every now and then.

Overall, I had so much fun. I was very happy that I can finally live my dream as a fangirl; and I can tell people I actually went to my fav band's concert. I was lucky enough to see them perform in my front of my eyes and I wouldn't trade the memory for anything else.

 EXO SARANGHAJA!

I finally got to do what I love, which was watching EXO performed. So in another phrase, I was in love with their performances throughout the concert. The feelings were indescribable. Is the feeling the same as falling in love (in real life)?

........

Lemme know if you've experienced both. I'll update you guys if i find the answer.

Till then,
a proud exo-l

(PS: A vlog of the concert will be uploaded soon on my youtube channel. Stay tuned!)

*UPDATED: I've already uploaded the vlog! Hope you guys like it

Young or old; we're merely mortals

I was at the hospital this morning accompanying my dad for his eye checkup. While waiting, I saw most of the   crowd were old, from all different races.

Then, I saw a bunch of medic people carrying a bed with a patient. The patient's eyes were bleeding and he was unconscious. They quickly brought him inside and waited for his turn as well.

A sudden yet obvious fact hit me. The hospital was not a fun place. In fact, the hospital is actually the saddest, most painful place in the earth. I don't pay visits to the hospital that often, Alhamdullilah and I don't like the hospital. I mean who does, its a place where it determines your health and fitness. Yet again, we can't run from all of it. Afterall we are all mortals; we're bound to die, young or old.

Watching all these patients waiting for their turn for their checkup reminded me that I will be one of those of people in the future. As much as I wanted to deny it, the truth prevails. Well, youth is temporary, and it made me realized I should be grateful for all the blessings i have now, and should enjoy my youth as much as possible. Go hiking, swimming, get on rollercoasters, meet people & have fun! Probably spend less time on sitting, watching tv, on the internet 24/7( i mean we can still do all if these when we get older). Point is, we dont want to regret when we're in wheelchairs and wearing prosthetic teeth. Be joyful while we can!

Sorry if this post seems a bit random. I was waiting for my dad and I had to write my thoughts out. Till then! 💖

XOXO

Hello 2016! Setting NEW YR RESOLUTIONS

Halooo lovely people! The scent of a fresh new year has dawned upon us. Can you believe its already 2016? In another 4 yrs, we'll be hitting the 2020s mark so I'm actually quite in disbelief that we're actually going to like survive the 2020s. Now, don't call me a pessimist but it's like heading into a new millennium, and honestly it's a lot for me to take in.

Anyways, I bet everyone has already planned their new yr resolution, the typical mindset that we all have: NEW YEAR, NEW ME. Yes, in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with setting a fresh new mindset at the beginning of every year. I mean, at least you try setting goals and resolutions to become better than the previous year. The only problem that everyone face is actually sticking to the resolutions throughout the year. A lot of things can happen in a year, so you may end forgetting your resolutions. But it's always better to make effort than nothing at all.

So, yes I admit that I make new lists of resolutions every year and no, I don't stick to them throughout the whole year (that's quite impossible actually lol) BUT one tip that I found handy is to divide my resolutions into categories. Since the past couple years, I divided my new yr resolutions into SHORT TERM RESOLUTIONS and LONG TERM RESOLUTIONS.

For the long term resolutions, these are the goals that you want to maintain throughout the whole year(hopefully). For example, i want to lose some weight, or i want to pray on time. Usually, the long term ones has something to do with changes that i expect to happen by the end year. So the long term resolutions take action throughout the whole year, or the few more years to come. As for the short term goals, I divided the goals into months, so they're like monthly goals; what I expect to achieve in a time of a month. And it can indirectly have a connection with your long term plans.

Ex:
long term plan: i wanna lose weight
short term plan: January- lose 5 kg
                                      -  Go the gym every Monday, Tuesday and Sunday
                          February- lose 10 kg etc

Another tip is to make sure you set realistic goals; goals that you know you're capable of. Above is an example on how these whole resolutions co-relate. By doing this, it helps me a lot to be on track of things that I expect to achieve monthly or end of the year. And it would be so much better if you have weekly or daily goals/to-do-lists. I learned that ORGANIZATION is key. Write down these goals into a book that you use daily/planner or your phone, and remember to glance through them every now and then, as a reminder: "bij, you have to goals to achieve!!!"

!!!!Another tip is to make sure you set realistic goals; goals that you know you're capable of.!!!

However to organize daily is kinda hard, especially when you're good at procrastinating  and you're not the type to follow schedule. As for me, I'm the type to make a schedule/plan but to follow it....., its another whole thing. Like I would write down plans, but I wouldn't necessarily do them on time aka I would procrastinate, yeah.

Regardless, it's a new year and it won't hurt to make resolutions. When you want to achieve something, it starts from the intention, it starts from your heart (deep tak>>)
And guess what, making this blog post is in my January goals, but I'm actually kinda left behind with the time, so.......

I hope you guys found this post helpful if indeed you are making new yr resolutions. And if you haven't, it's never to late to start. Better late than never.

Goodbye! Have a great new year :)
